Jacob Mitchell

Jacob Mitchell, or rather, MC Grammar, is a positive role model who shows that education and learning can be engaging and exciting. So much so, the MC Grammar Show is now online broadcasting to a global audience through YouTube and YouTube Kids. MC Grammar’s influence and impact has received instant and exceptional critical acclaim.

Jacob has been teaching since 2009. With an incredible passion for his vocation, within only five years of teaching Jacob had won a national teaching award.  He had also created and sold many of his own resources to schools both nationally and internationally.

With a massive international following Jacob began supporting local schools, as a consultant, to engage young minds when teaching and learning English. Furthermore, his aspirations have not faded as his resources are now used by over 25,000 children each day in 17 countries.

Children log on to his website to listen to his songs, watch his cartoons, enjoy his apps, or spin a Word Wheel.

This is because MC Grammar delivers the national curriculum objectives in the only way he knows how: he raps and rhymes over fresh beats and melodies.

Each MC Grammar song is linked to one of the national curriculum grammar and punctuation objectives. And this varies from reception age up to year 8 (4-14). The children learn the songs, break down the lyrics with their teachers, apply them to the text or books that they are studying and then write.

Leaving secondary education with only two GCSEs led to a difficult experience in the ‘real world’ that flipped the switch for him. He hated being misunderstood, overlooked and isolated ….. without words, without his voice.

Jacob’s promise to himself to make a change ignited his passion for music and his journey into teaching so all children and young learners didn’t have to experience what he did.
